Each of these systems have USB 2, Firewire, hot networking, &c. so I’m not bothering to list those elements.

“Cheap” but solid:

  1. 256MB Radeon 9600PRO AGP 8x Video Card
  2. AMD Athlon 64 3000+
  3. 1GB System Memory
  4. 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache 1.5 Gb/s Hard Drive
  5. Black 16X 8X 5X DVD-RAM 40X CD-R DVD Burner
  6. ASUS Vintage-AE1 Barebone

add internal 3.5-inch flash reader for ca. $15

Almost premium:

  1. Antec Solution Black Mini Tower w/ 350W Power Supply
  2. integrated NVIDIA GeForce 6150 w/ shared 128 or 256MB
  3. AMD Athlon 64 3700+
  4. 2GB (2 x 1GB) System Memory (1920 or 1792 MB available for system)
  5. 19-in-1 USB 2.0 Flash Card Reader/Writer
  6. 80GB 7200 RPM 1.0 Gb/s Hard Drive, for boot drive.
  7. 600GB SATA RAID-0 4.5 Gb/s hard-drive-based storage
  8. Black 16X 8X 5X DVD-RAM 40X CD-R DVD Burner

Okay, I know about integrated graphics. They’re not supposed to be so hot, but the well reviewed for its price $100 card I originally selected is actually this graphic chipset on an independent card. I could always go back and drop in a video card worthy of this system for $100.
